Amazon is very serious about their retail marketing and doing everything to make user experience even better each day. Recently, they introduced a new Artificial Intelligence powered tool called StyleSnap to help customers find clothes to buy.
StyleSnap concept is very similar to Shazam, just like Shazam rather than finding music you can now search clothes in Amazon mobile app. Customers can take a picture or upload an image on StyleSnap and it will use machine learning algorithms to match the look in the photo for sale on amazon.com.
This featured released yesterday in RE: MARS Conference held in Las Vegas in which Amazon’s consumer worldwide CFO Jeff Wilke said that, “The simplicity of the customer experience belies the complexity of the technology behind it.”
There are lots of startups out their which are providing similar services and it remains to be seen if StyleSnap can live up to Amazon claims. These AI tool might be easy to identify basic items of clothing like pencil skirts or flannel skirts but that doesn’t really help consumers. It is interesting to see how the things will change in the near future.
