The future of fashion runway show held yesterday night at Fashion Institute of Technology. The show showcased 90+ looks from this year’s graduating students of BFA program. This year students of FIT introduced street styles and athletics capsule collections in addition to knitwear, sportswear, intimate apparel and children’s wear on the runway.
The show was produced by many big labels like Calvin Klein and Brother International Corp. FIT alumnus Calvin Klein through CK Family foundation supported $2 million and Brother International Corp. with more than $100,000 worth of sewing machines, embroidery and electronic cutting machine products.
In this show we have seen many presentation including chunky hand knit coat, a hand printed bomber jacket and a reflective puffer jacket. Apart from that, we have seen denim patchwork hand knit coat, a black shearling bomber with parachute straps and a self embroidered canvas, metallic sustainable hand-crochet bikini and cover set.
Ken Downing, Chief Creative Officer of Triple Five Group said that, “I thought the show was fantastic. It’s a commentary on the times we are living in, the athletic influences, the sense of wanting to wrap yourself and all but disappear into the beautiful amounts of fabrics. Besides the sexy lingerie, he said the show reflected protecting oneself with fashion. He felt the designers were protecting themselves against the elements and the news of the day and they want to curl up in their comforters and turn them into clothes.”
